The Comics Code Authority is slipping on the job. I guess the Internet provides a good shield from that grandma from Hoboken who would have written a letter to the editor. At least the editor doesn’t overreact and replace the offending comic with Family Circus anymore.

Only the ignorant (or really stupid) people have no vocabulary couth.

That little girl needs her mouth washed out with soap for cursing.

Pass it up the line. This is uncalled for in a comic strip.I am removing this one from my list.

High and low vocabulary makes a well rounded, intelligent person.

Get a life. It’s much easier to get a “Shock-Laugh” by being vulgar, rather than being original. This is not Lenny Bruce or George Carlin here people.

And… it’s been replaced by the censored version. Serious lack of intestinal fortitude there, L.L. Or whoever changed it.

In all honesty, I think this automatic anti-censorship misses the point of anti-censorship in the first place. Anti-censorship is there to prevent the little man from being stifled. The way it’s everyone’s favorite thing to go on about nowadays, it’s just become a contest to see who can be more shockingly profane and gross. People hail and applaud any obscenity they see or hear just for the fact that it went seen and heard and not for some presumed appreciation of freedom.
