Little rascals! Messing with the sign for a free meal. Harrrrumph!.Only face I can see is the one on the sign post. Either Thom is playing with us, or I need new contacts.
Hmm—I wonder if that water is beyond that second face-shaped rock, or over the horizon between the low hill and the big one with the long, crooked nose? If it’s really only one mile, I’d vote for the closer one.
OTOH, I wonder how much the guy with the water is selling it for?
.
I’m reminded of the fellow crawling through the desert who comes by a guy selling ties. He asks whether he has any water; nope—only ties for a buck each. “I’m sure not going to give you a buck for something a useless as a tie!” he explodes. So he crawls on.
Abut ten miles later, he comes across a restaurant—and they won’t let him in without a tie. . . .

“Keep a moving Dan,
Don’t you listen to him Dan
He’s a Devil not a man,
And he fills the burning sand with water,
Cool, clear water.”

Or business vultures hoping someone will work for nothing, Froggy. Like hiring illegals for a lawn business.
Or lying in advertising.
Or about how bad things are and how they want to save the country so they can get bailed out.
Actually, considering the cartoon, it’s more likely no. 2.

That’s a mean trick! That river bed goes right over the ridge. there’s likely a lake there. Mean old vultures!
