I think Jobs copied the window and mouse from Xerox (not sure, but he didn’t invent it) and made it work so well on the Mac that Microsoft copied it. A lawsuit followed, which Microsoft won, and so inventiveness was coupled with low cost. But it was Jobs who really led the way.
The early Macs opened the way to a revolution in graphics and publishing. Jobs was also an innovator in how to price things and how to redefine customer relationships.
