Mom: I'm pushing the stroller so you'll have to hold the groceries on the way back. Alice: What are we getting? Mom: A bunch of watermelons, a few bushels of potatoes, a jumbo bag of birdseed, some bags of party ice... a sack of decorative gravel, a set of barbells and Daddy needs a new anvil. Alice: that's kind of a crummy thing to do to a baby.

Actually, Peter Sr. doesn’t need a new anvil, he just wants one. You know how it is; Steve Jobs says that Apple’s iAnvil 4 will go on sale September 15, and suddenly the perfectly good iAnvil 3 by your forge is just another hunk of iron…
