Good Morning AllWhat are those things supposed to be on the back of their chairs (labeled his & hers)……….they look absolutely filthy. Greasy, dirty……..naaaaaaaaaaaasty!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just about anything is allowed in TV ads nowadays. I just find it strange that Pennys et al are discussing levels of taste, as we have all learned they are all lacking in that .
Funny- Verl’s shirt is a ginger ale that used to be bottled near me in IL, but also sounds like a couple of different conditions for which there could be women’s ads.
I think the video is included just to show that they would not be embarrassed by all the exploits of that person-only by the ads because they are easily understood.
I guess I’m having trouble today myself. (Altho not as bad as the “boys” in Crustwood) I tried to post asking if anyone had seen our Sunshine? I would just love to see her take on this strip!
Haha! I originally took Ma’s “No-Doz” comment as a zing against Burl’s bedroom behaviors…. but that could suggest either a) she hears Burl & Joy during their moments of passion (gasp), b) Joy tells her about their bedroom maneuvers (gasp), or c) was insinuating that the “men in her life” were yawn-inducing in the bedroom. NOW, however, coming back and looking at Julie’s art more closely…. no one yet commented on the crazy commercial on the tv!!!!! The woman has a “hillbilly” sort of appearance (missing teeth and all) . Too funny!
GymShoe — you’re right! That’s pretty off the wall for a newspaper comic, but you have to dig for it, so maybe the syndicate didn’t notice!
So many people to answer…..
Pipe — I’m pretty sure, and agreeing with GymShoe here, that Ma is saying that when women need to “stay up” all they need is No-Doz.
Probably tied to a connotation of Burl’s boring habits in the bedroom as well, cos Joy’s cup says she’s asleep.
I think she’d zing Burl with that even if Joy never said a word… it’s a handy insult.
As for where they show those ads, I don’t have cable but but before the digital switchover, when I lost most of my signal, I saw plenty of Enzyte commercials, especially on local stations..
Wow, thanks, Anniebody, I’m flattered. I’m away from home till maybe Wednesday night, and having trouble getting computer time.
And thanks Mikie, for remembering my pedantic little lecture, and Sfreader for filling in while I was gone! LOL.
Glad to see that you are keeping busy, Susan- I may need to change to other work just to keep things going. I dreampt last night I was on Project Runway -and I’m many decades older than the “old fart” Bert who is hanging in there.

Does this mean that Ma has had difficulty staying awake during…Bible Study? Or has Joy shared something about Burl with her?

I’m surprised their chairs aren’t covered in plastic.
finale about 13 years ago
No plastic on chairs because it sounds like gas passing when you move around on them and with Jerry and Burl you want to keep them honest.
