The TV people don’t care if you have homework. Just keep watching the commercials, then go out and buy something.

I am old enough to remember when TV broadcasts would regularly go haywire and you would just get a “Please Stand By” message on your screen for one of the network channels for minutes or hours. And this wasn’t in some little rural TV market, this was the Philadelphia stations. Can’t remember the last time I saw this happen, but must be at least thirty years ago.

I’m so old, I remember when cable companies didn’t own stations. THOSE were the good days – with quality programming and no ‘reality’ TV (like stupid survivor or danging shows.)…

I remember when cartoons were from 5:30am-11am on Saturday, and Dukes of Hazard was on at 2pm on Saturday.

When the TV “Season” went from 3rd week of September, till the last week of May, and than it was reruns. None of this 12 episodes from Oct-Dec, than wait a year for another 12 BS.

Ah, to go back in time, and watch REAL GOOD TV would be nice.

When I talk about how TV used to be better, this is what my kids hear:

I recollect when we all got out the horses and harness and went for buggy rides upon a fine Sunday afternoon. I wish this fad for motorcars would pass and we could go back to the good old days.

When I was younger, we had the color pattern look when the tube went bye bye. And Greg, I hear ya’! My kids just look at me and ask what it was like riding a dinosaur to school when I mention the “good ol’ days”. Please! I’m ONLY 38.

I can remember my Dad pulling the vacuum tubes out of the TV and taking them up to the hardware store to test and buy new ones when funny things happened to the picture.

Poor Toby. So many channels, so little time. (to paraphrase an old Twilight Zone episode) Wait until he finds out there’s nothing interesting on but still insists on watch. Just in case he misses something. .Way, way, way back when my parents bought home our first TV -(tubes and rabbit ears) We got Channel 8 (now called Global), KVOS-TV (remember Soupy Sales and J P Patches?) and sometimes CBC. Strangely enough, the new channel Chek, way, way over across the strait and hidden somewhere on the Island, would come in clearer than the CBC if the wind was just right.
