Bucky: Here's the garfield book you wanted to borrow. Be careful with it, tit's worth $100, it's signed. Satchel: By Garfield? Wow, that's... Wait, this is your signature. Bucky: You're welcome. Satchel: How is this valuable just because you signed it? Bucky: Are you kidding?! I'm Bucky Katt, man! Stuff I touch turns gold! I got King Midas' touch, baby! Satchel: Well, I don't think spray-painting stuff is the same as having king midas' touch... Actually, the stuff you touch generally gets dirty and broken- you have King Kong's touch! Ha ha! Bucky: you want to book or not?! Satchel: Yeah, yeah. Bucky: And I want that back by tonight, or I'll squeeze that $100 cut out of your head. Satchel: So you're giving me an ultimatum now? Bucky: No, I'm loaning it to you... And I wouldn't say that's Garfield's ultimatum, but it's a pretty-goodum.

It’s Bucky’s world. The rest of us just get confused in it. . ..

My take…Bucky hears-ultimate ‘um, meaning best ’un(one). So he’s saying this book isn’t Garfield’s best, but it’s a pretty good one. ~ (I hope I’m not seriously answering a joking question? That’s not optimal : )

Don’t worry ProudArianne – Bucky is confusing at the best of times. And I’m confused today so any explanation is welcomed.

Just noticed this is a rerun from 2009, so many people will be saying, “Shoot, I’ve known that for two years.”

Satch: So you’re giving me an ultimate ‘un? (as in Final)Buck: I wouldn’t say it’s Garfield’s ultimate ‘un but it’s a pretty good ‘un. That’s how I read it.

I often wonder what makes Bucky tick. But, he’s a typical narcissist cat.

Yeah, you guys got it. That’s how I took it, Jonathan Eggleton. Satchel asks Bucky if he’s giving him an ultimatum – Bucky takes this to mean Satchel’s asking if he’s actually giving him Garfield’s “ultimate” book, which Bucky doesn’t think is ultimate but just pretty good :P

Sorry, Buck, there’s no way there’s $100 in his head……but that would be King Kong’s touch…..

A Google search of “Garfield’s Ultimatum” led to a pretty unfunny re-do of a Garfield cartoon with offensive language. I love Get Fuzzy, but this bizarre reference, neither amusing nor clever, is far below Darby’s usual quality.

Bucky just got confused between “Ultimate” and “Ultimatum”. It’s funny because of the misunderstanding, not because of anything Garfield.
