    … we still use VHS to tape a show to watch later. it’s getting hard to find blank tapes. but we can’t afford the latest tech, so we wallow in the Stone Age.

    It’s true that each medium has its own unique benefits… VHS tapes let you stop somewhere and return at your leisure, DVDs eliminated most of the “worse picture over time” issue and removed rewinding as a need, and DVRs make watching recorded TV the easiest but can’t be brought anywhere else easily. I’m sure there will be newer advances in the future that remove some of the annoyances, but add new ones. ;-)

    The skipping bit is too true! I always thought it was a big problem with DVD technology that VHS didn’t have!!
