We have no burglars, and there are three cats in this house. Of course with my ancient Volvo 240 sitting out front, they may just assume we have nothing to steal!
I can say my cat is a good guardian of the house. She’s alerted me more than once to dangers in the house including a pan someone left on the stove with an open flame and the smoke hadn’t gotten to the smoke alarm yet. My sister’s dog barks at everything so you tune him out.

Our Siamese slept on the windowsill over our bed. One night he (or somebody…) knocked out the flyscreen and took off. My (naked) wife ran out into the yard to get him back. Next day we learned he had driven off the burglar who had just finished robbing the house next door!

Which is just fine if you were to be robbed by a little old lady.

Cats can be good at guarding. If you watch their expressions and what they are hissing at.

If a burglar broke into my house, he would leave a donation. And a home improvement catalog.

Although dogs are good protectors, it’s usually cats who go for the kill.

My knitting is constantly getting sit on by a cat. Although at least Muffin isn’t trying to sleep on it while it is still on the needles.
