Jeez. Flask looks downright cracked, especially in the third panel. Is she doing this for fun? Or is this her way of interrogating a prisoner? If its the latter, I’m betting it’s effective – if it was me in that suit, I think I’d spill my guts (and possibly empty my bladder).
Or maybe its just a cat thing? Toying with their prey? My own cat spent a bit of time today torturing a yellow jacket for fun…
Hey Aaron. Reading you since your previous site. wasn t too sure about the new arc with Wally and all but you proved me wrong. Still a big fan. Keep it up bro
I’d guess Linda, depressed, will reflect On the choices she didn’t reject As she’s now self-protecting Not (the psych’s say) “projecting” She now has a “flat affect” And I think we see, perhaps That she is hearing “Taps” For her life and career So her parts “out to here” Have suffered a bit of collapse =|====/ Level Head Vote for Endtown 2.0 And for Doc Rat, too The Endtown Forum
Incidentally, this shows that the captain Was in Topsider crews in her past We’re not very surprised; that fact’s crept in By the inference of Mallard’s blast But if Philomena pulls that trigger (Or pushes, as seems the case here) Linda’s likely to get rather bigger As some monster — that’s something to fear! =|====/ Level Head Vote for Endtown 2.0 And for Doc Rat, too The Endtown Forum
Gotta say, I can’t help liking how Flask seems to be going bonkers. I mean, she’s not exactly losing it, is she? I guess she wouldn’t, because there’s a rocket to bring down after all, but I’m reeeeally curious to find out what happened in the time it took her hair to grow a little. And where’s Petey, anyway?
The Endtown mini-comic that I produced for Comicpalooza 2011 is now available to YOU for the offensively low price of $2.50 (price includes s&h, international add $1 for each copy ordered ). Besides sporting a snazzy full color cover, it contains an all-new 22 page story that is available nowhere else. And just because I feel like doing it, I’ll sign and personalize (if desired) each and every copy I mail out. Simply pay via PayPal using my email address, aaronneathery@gmail.com, and be sure to include your mailing address. If you can’t pay with PayPal, send payment to:Aaron NeatheryPO Box 920558Houston, TX 77292And, just so you know, I’m completely open to donations. The cat and mouse that live in my head will thank you. :-)
In regards to story and characters, I’m personally ranking this up there with “Bone” and “Elf Quest” in my realm of all-time favorites…I’m hopelessly hooked on this comic. You’ve gained another diehard fan Aaron!
Flask and Linda do agree on one thing: in their opinion, it’s better to be dead than be a mutant monster like Sandy. Unfortunately, no-one asked Sandy.
Flask has been giving us several hints in the last several days. I think she used to be a Topsider, and somehow got exposed to the virus. Now she’s mad at the universe.
Wow, just found this comic last week… spent a bunch of hours catching up from day 1 until now. This comic is by far a favorite. Great job. Love the black and white inking. Characters are awesome, fun and very deep. Great job Aaron Neathery!
Flask sure seems to know a lot about the topsiders – can use their blasters, knows about a design flaw no one else knows of. Starting to wonder who she REALLY is.
Flask is about to reveal a very interesting tidbit of Topsider information. If there’s a tiny little design flaw, there is a possibility that the topsiders do know about it, but just don’t know or have the means to fix it. Or maybe Flask knew someone who made the suits and knows a secret design flaw that way. Linda’s reaction isn’t much help, only because whether or not she’s aware of the flaw, she’s currently paralyzed and would probably believe Flask either way.
This scene just feels long because we only get to see four panels a day. Really, only a few minutes at most have gone by. I’m not bothered by the ‘speed’ of this scene – it shows how depraved Flask can be and really gives the Topsider a taste of what they’ve been dishing out since the beginning of this series. I’m really curious as to what’s going to happen after this is over – Wally and Holly now know how scary/crazy Flask can be, Flask knows how good Wally (and Holly) are, Flask may also realize that Wally’s much softer than she is. I emphasize ‘may’ because I don’t think she registered Wally having stunned Linda as a “He is soft” as much as “Now I have a Topsider to play with!”
Also, although Flask was shell-shocked when she last fought on the surface, I’m wondering if it’s because she was in more danger than she is now. She had no problem blowing away Doug and torturing Linda, but both are helpless to her. However, that would imply that Flask fears death or getting hurt (at least to a reasonable degree), and I’m not so sure if I’d say that. Maybe something happened to her between now and then to make her more ruthless, but she was pretty ruthless to begin with so I’m not so sure about that either.
Hmmm, did the design flaw get Flask? Is that why she “knows a little secret about these suits”? Or did she have something to do with fabricating the suits and somehow was responsible for the “tiny design flaw”? I’m believing more and more that Flask turned andro as a result of accidental exposure, not simply a victim of the war. I’d still like to see Flask’s history as a thread unto itself. I just started reading the story about three weeks ago. I read one year’s worth a night for three nights in a row. First was 2011, then 2009 and 2010. I won’t call it a comic strip, it’s far too good for that. It’s seems more a graphic novel in daily installments…besides, look at Flask, there’s not much comical there. (Yes, I’ve heard…graphic novel due out in 2012.) Aaron seems to start a new storyline roughly around the first of the year. 2012 could be the Year of the Cat!Regardless of where the story’s going, keep writing Aaron. This story of yours is the first thing I turn to every day, as soon as my computer boots up. In the last week, I’ve introduced friends to your work and they’ve passed it on in turn. From the looks of all the posts every day, I’d say you’ve done something very special. Everyone who reads it seems to get almost rabid about it, emotionally involved with the characters. I for one say, “Thank you, thank you, thank you.” Your writing does something for or to those it touches, I’m not sure which. Keep up the great work!
An Achilles’ heel, on one’s face. So small, and yet it will ultimately result in the one’s demise. And I’m perfectly fine with how slow it’s moving. It lets me digest each and every strip so that I’m ready for the next when it comes. It’s like reading a book: you do it one sentence at a time, and in our case, you read into it one panel at a time.
WOW!!!Look at Wally and Holly’s expressions in panel # 2.Great job, Aaron. A wonderful comic today, and Flask is being a cat. Or, she’s showing a deviant antisocial personality!

And Linda doesn’t seem nearly as perky today. Especially with her future in jeopardy.

rapidly losing interest in the answer though. I’m fed up with Flask and fairly fed up with this story line which is dragging now.
