Let me guess. Cartoon critic 2544 is Rat?

I’d say that’s darn near 100% certainty.

That said, anyone else checked the comments on the last couple strips hoping to see CartoonCritic2544 posting?

Maybe Cartooncritic2544 doesn’t like those tacky, sell-out plugs for personal appearances? I mean, for God’s sake, the man is sticking a *@%#&ing COMMERCIAL into his strip!

Aw it’s ok Pastis, I like this strip! It’s the highlight of my day at work after I get everything done :)

I wish he would give one of those talks here, instead of always running away.

I think he’s afraid if he appears too often in Santa Rosa, people will start to recognise him at the grocery store.

Right now, we don’t —we just assume he’s the guy in the ski mask.

Stephan — I’d promise to forget what you look like, but you keep drawing yourself in the strip.

All I said was Stephan is looking more and more liker Johnny Castaway. Honestly, some people are SOOO sensative!

Is Pastis disguising someone on this comment-board as cartoon-Pastis’s bête noire, CartoonCritic2544?

Although many cartoonists, Pastis among them, say they don’t read the comments on their strips here, I suspect that in fact most do drop in at least occasionally to sample their public; and a flaming critic such as …2544 could evoke a response, even if it were indirectly done. So play nice, gang; I do so dislike seeing cartoon-Pastis swearing a blue streak in public when impressionable, innocent minds (Pig, not you) are around….

you are all missing the highlight of today’s strip … look at that headband!

2544 is my brother. He’s notoriously hard to please. That said, we only want Pastis to put forth his best efforts. But I suppose even the best have some off days.

Don’t sugar coat it, Stephan ; tell us how you REALLY feel !

Maybe CartoonCritic2544 is his mother or father. 2/5/44 could be his or her birthday. Pastis was born in 1968, he or she would have been 24 when he was born.

Tom Hanks, Tom Jones, Tom Petty, Tom Brady. I don’t think you’d call any of these guys “semi” famous.

Sophomoric, Mediocre Humor. The need he has to put himself in his own strip as means to justify its bad puns and outlandish story lines shows his lack of creativity in the area of comic expertise. Why do I continue to read this junk? perhaps out of pity for the creator.

Ok, I know Rat won’t like this but I find Stephen’s strip, creative, relevant, insightful, and down right funny!

I love this strip above all others, and one of my favorite scenarios features cartoon Mr. Pastis.

He was such a good boy, thought he was going to be a good lawyer, but then he started drawing. Sigh. “Cartoonbuy”

I agree. Pig and Rat are so dependable that it’s easy to guess what they’ll say – but Stephan brings in delightful uncertainty.

CartoonCritic2544 is most likely Jeffy from Family Circle. But it’s just a guess.

Yeah, it’s gotta be rat.It’s been said here that Pastis never reads these boards but I bet secretly he does. I like Lincoln Pierce at Big Nate who embraces his readers and shares ideas. I used to email Pastis many years ago when he first came out and lobbied The Oregonian to add him to the funny pages. He always replied and was pleasant. Then he hit the big time and is behind the wall so to speak. Glad to see him coming to Portland next week. Hope I can get there to meet him in person.

STILL don’t like getting a commercial along with my PBS. It’s like those advertising graphics they now superimpose over every TV show. Ever try to watch ‘The Seven Samurai’ in Japanese when those damn ads are covering the subtitles? It’s so… crass.
