Doonesbury by Garry Trudeau for October 01, 2011
Transcript:
Rick: So you can be bought for $200,000? Or $250,000? Perry: Warmer... Hotter... Rick: $500,000? Perry: Boiling! Joanie: Crony capitalism? Don't get me started! Elizabeth Warren: No, no, please. Fireman: Never put out a pool before. Jeff: Better not report it - who'd believe you? Meanwhile. Meanwhile.

Now there’s a transition! From Rick on Rick, to Joannie on EW, to Jeff’s blowout party. I wonder which story GBT will pick up on Monday?
MassieVoter about 13 years ago
Instead of working for Elizabeth Warren just because she is a female candidate, Joannie should be supporting Bob Massie because he would make a far better US Senator for Massachusetts. Bob Massie has a very compelling life story and a strong background in environmental and healthcare issues.

GBT draws these strips two weeks in advance. He’s well aware that political events frequently overtake Doonesbury.Jeff’s fantastic shenanigans are a kind of filler or place holder in GBT’s prophetic narrative. While all the media were busy with what passes for politics (mock interviews with Perry and Warren), real history was being made by the president’s executing the traitors who joined al Qaeda.Doonesbury’s clowning is always ironical. GBT reminds us that politics and history are not what we’re reading.

2 C A “pool fire” go 2:http://www.moorece.com.au/S19-consequence-modelling-hazard-analysis.html

(Jeff could have syphoned a full tank of gas onto the family swimming pool. Since gasoline is lighter than water, it floats and spreads out evenly over the entire surface. I know a former rancher who would do that on ponds of water in order to kill mosquito eggs and larvae. You don’t need a whole lot to create a big fire. When the gas is all consumed the fire stops of its own accord.)

I think that suggesting Rick Perry is corrupt to this extent while leaving Barack “Chicago Way” Obama untouched makes Trudeau look like an idiot. After all, it was only by the Chicago way that good ol’ Barry found himself lost in the White House felling his way blindly to the disaster that is his presidency.

The last panel is about fracking, I remember thanks to the old show Emergency! and a Reader’s Digest article. I just hope the arc goes back to economics, the one field where I agree with it. Despite this arc’s anti-TEA party twist, I’m still voting for Perry or Bachmann in the primary. Whichever TEA party candidate is still in the race when the primaries get to Idaho.

^Of course this kept killing the fish that would have EATEN the larvae, and kept the frying pan full as well. “Old rancher wisdom” often wasn’t all that bright.

HOW FRACKING WORKS In a hydraulic fracturing job, “fracturing fluids” or “pumping fluids” consisting primarily of water and sand are injected under high pressure into the producing formation, creating fissures that allow resources to move freely from rock pores where it is trapped.…………………………………………………………..

When Obama was running and the corrupt criminal Blago was governor, Obama’s rep was squeaky clean. I was a passionate supporter. Now he makes me barf a little. But the Tea Party makes me barf a lot.

Despite my avatar, I too am an Independent and was ready to vote for McCain until he chose SP. By the term “political process” (above), I meant the electorate’s custom of rejecting extremists of all stripes.Radical candidates—-especially those from the right—-can upset a close election even though they can never win it.In 1992, Bill Clinton’s percentage of the popular vote was only 5 points greater than that of the incumbent George Bush, who lost voters to Ross Perot (19%).In 1968 also, the incumbent party’s candidate Humphrey got 42.7% of the popular vote to Nixon’s 43.4%—-a difference of less than a single percentage point, owing to the third party (George Wallace) drawing nearly 14% of the vote.If the Tea Party selects a candidate to run on a third-party ticket, s/he will certainly take more votes away from the Republican challenger than from the Democrat incumbent.

I worked with a guy who spent some of his youth in Passaic, New Jersey. He said back then, the number two fire hazard in town was the Passaic River. It had so many volatile pollutants floating on the surface, it was a great risk to catch fire at any time. Don’t know that it did but it was still dangerous.

There must be fracking going on somewhere in Jeff’s neighborhood.

Don’t let Big Barf cloud your judgment DT.
Since everyone’s confessing their electoral blunders, I too voted for Ross Perot once.
