TV: Tonight on 'Planet Earth'...the dart frog. A native of Central and South America. The frog lives in trees and feeds on insects. Small in size, the frog has no natural defenses. Thus, it must rely solely on its brightly colored skin, a signal to predators that it is poisonous and that to eat it is to suffer a slow, painful death... Crocodile: Dat guy fashion-challenged.

Well, they won’t believe he’s poisonous, but maybe the clothes could help convince the Crocs he’s contagiously crazy.
Throw a few puns into your conversation, Zebra, that’ll help too.
Believe me, I know.
RogueSymmetry about 13 years ago
This is why I can usually be found wearing orange t-shirts!
arye uygur about 13 years ago
But the only reason predators know that the frog is poisonous is because they already ate one frog. That one frog sacrificed itself for his species/

Unfortunately, Larry and the crocs generally are too dumb to have watched that installment of “Planet Earth,” but it is nice to see Zeeba Neighba try some turnabout….
bahramthered about 13 years ago
Unless Zebra rolled a tv with this recorded and set to repeat it would never work.
Honestly looking at that purple hat my first thought was the Joker, who wouldn’t need to fear the crocs. Seeing the rest on second look I thought clown. So now I’m rooting for the crocs.
Kill the clown before they attack!

I never realized Johnny Depp was part zebra…

Zebra needs to get a big slab of raw meat and liberally lace it with strychnine & leave it for his retarded asocial neighbors. . ..
BobSpelledBackwards about 13 years ago
Not sure about poka-dot pants but purple hat with feathers make Zeba neighbor look tasty. Mmmmm Zeba
Strong51Bad about 13 years ago
Rodney, you’re right. Zeeba DOES look like Johnny Depp!
BobSpelledBackwards about 13 years ago

And yet scientists try to convince us that “animals can’t see colour.” If that were true, all those bright warning colours would be wasted.
How is being poisonous not “a natural defense”?Johnny Diego, it’s not just the white belt that’s protecting you, it’s the white belt with the plaid pants.

I guess that explains plaid.

Fashion-challenged, hahaha!
nanselmus about 13 years ago
Instead of dressing like a dandy, maybe Zebra should dress like a slob. Actually, if he dresses in any clothes, I don’t think he will be eaten. Crocs don’t like the taste and besides the shredded garments will get caught in their teeth and then they’ll have to go to the dentist which they hate.

This looks like something Pig might do. I always thought Zebra was the down-to-earth logical type…
squirrel500 about 13 years ago

Zebra acting like PigCrocks smart about color/fashion… I believe we have a personality crisis going on.Zebras are attacked by crocks at watering holes.Crocks could not take any zebra on land. But, this IS Pears Before Swine… uh, isn’t Pig and Pigita the only swine in this strip?

Sing along with Zeeba: “Hey! Don’t come around here no more…”(Or am I being Petty?)

I agree about birds and reptiles having generally better color vision—consider all their bright patterns of color/plumage. Mammals (who were for most of their history apparently night-creatures, like rats, cats, or lemurs) tend to have poor color vision.
billbb about 13 years ago
It seems like dee ZeebstaGuy borrowed a bit of whatever Pig’s on for this strip.

Considering that the crocs don’t wear clothes, I think larry should be thinking about his on pants instead of zebra’s.
ZeebA16 almost 12 years ago
That’s kind of out of character for Zebra, since its usually the crocs doing the stupid things.
TURTLEDUDE about 5 years ago
This feels backwards

Did any body notice that in the second to last panel zebra has hand shaped gloves. But he has hooves. What is this madness

The one time zebra was being ridiculous and not the crocs
totallynotamoose almost 3 years ago
one of the few instances where zebra is the idiot, not the crocs
