    Actually, the Post Office is the one government program which is self-supporting. Congress wants to change that, of course, and not by making any other programs self-supporting.

    It may be self supporting but it isn’t doing a very good job of it. The internet has cut deeply into it’s livelihood.

    If it is self supporting why does it need to be a monopoly for first class delivery??? Privatize the beast and let it face some competition.

    Look what has happened…. to Newspapers……… can’t blame either political party for that……….The USPS has done pretty well adjusting to the new reality…………..The strip today is both mean and funny….! ! !

    I do see the problem with private mail service, some areas might cost 10 cents to deliver while others cost 5 dollars. That would be interesting to see rural areas not get mail service, bills or anything else…not be able to mail in tax payments and other stuff too. I also thought that there was a lot of private competition with other services. Then again I’m not an expert on mailing stuff by any means.
