Flowers are bright colors to attract insects. Do leaves change color in fall for a similar biological reason?

Leaves change color because the tree is going into dormancy for the winter, and stop makin chlorophyll if I remember correctly.

YEAH, THERE’S MY PELLIE! THANKS TONY!

Leaves don’t change colour – once they stop producing chlorophyll (which is green) the natural colour is able to be seen.

Dry has it right and I also love Pellie. I think Dad is trying to avoid the rake, but nothing will work (including superglue). Here in Phoenix we need to drive to higher elevations to see autumn colors (and I saved photos from my home in IL-so not doing that). Pelicans are not a migrating bird as far as I know. I get to see some Orioles here on migration and books claim that Cardinals stay (mine did in IL) but I see a pair only briefly during the years here.
