one of those things that grandpa said and Nelson will remember all his life, and repeat many many times with a loving memory of his grandfather.

Do you KNOW what happens if your belly button comes untied? Your skin falls off! It’s a good thing SOMEone finally told Nelson about this lurking danger!!

Wrong, Earl. There’s a platinum screw in your belly button and if it gets too loose your butt will drop off.

Everybody knows if your belly button comes undone, you fly around the room like a deflating balloon and fall in a limp pile in the corner. Then, the cat tries to eat you and throws up. Do NOT let this happen, Nelson!

Nelson is right at that age where the adults begin to lose their credibility with fables like flying reindeer, bunnies with eggs, arks with the planets life forms, tooth fairies, etc. challenging the ablilty to suspend disbelief. Don’t feed your kids such stuff – they’ll grow up trusting you.

The lint fairy is one thing Earl but you shouldn’t tell Nelson his belly button can come untied! Kids will genuinely worry and have nightmares about something like that. I worried about so many things and had such nightmares growing up bc of crap my grandma told me :-/
