As a kid even in HS (early 50s) my parents bought me stuff from resale shops including shoes-I had choice but had to buy there. My first HS job (bank teller) I went to Joseph’s in Oak Park and bought a pair of heels with copper heels and reptile skin (probably printed) leather, but they were fancy and new! I loved them and probably wore them all of 2 times before giving them away. I buy some furniture at resales now but never clothes (or upolstered furniture that I can’t easily recover).

Mummy has a hard enough time making all those ends meet.
