I so did that when I was a kid. Years later when I inherited the house I had to rebuild the bathroom down to the rotted sub-floor. Gee I wonder why? ;-)
I did that in Grandma’s big old claw foot tub when about Calvin’s age. Took me a while to figure out why my backside was so tender for a couple days after. Apparently, that shiny porcelain finish isn’t so smooth and friction-less as it would appear. Cause and effect… the science of 6 year olds.
Slow Response Time on GoComicsI contacted GoComics about the slow response time, and they said that they use Firefox for their Web browser, and they are not seeing the problem. I’ve noticed that Internet Explorer 7 seems a lot slower than Firefox on my Windows XP computer when I use GoComics, and it sometimes gets stuck, so that I have to click on “refresh.”What are Firefox users out there experiencing? Does GoComics respond normally, or are you sometimes experiencing long delays after you click on something? Also, if you are having a problem with Firefox, what operating system are you using: Windows XP? Windows Vista? Windows 7? A Mac? etc. Thanks
@Hobbes…I have a Mac which runs Safari. I usually don’t have a problem, but I did notice on my iPad the past few days it has been crashing. Don’t know why.
I have yet to have a noticable problem with GoComics, using Google Chrome on WIndows 7, but when I have slow-ish webpages I generally blame them on the number of tabs I have open.
@Hobbes, I’ve been having issues with Chrome and have had to go back to IE to read GoComics. It’s a little frustrating, since Chrome usually works better for me on everything else. And this problem pops up every other month or so, lasts a couple weeks, then disappears mysteriously. All I get on Chrome when I try to view GoComics is:
I remember doing this when I was aout Calvin’s age. But I was smart enough to stop before it sloshed over the side (but it would not have made a funny a cartoon).
Its a seiche I tell you, just a seiche…unless Hobbs is in there playing Loch Ness Monster.BTW, I am using Firefox on an older G5 Power Mac (non-Intel type) Problems with speed and loading on Go Comics are rare. My understanding is, the speed of your internet connection can cause problems. And on certain types of connections, the more people “on” at the same time can slow down everyone on the loop. We have our internet connected to hardwire (not wireless) within the house, through a router to Verizon Fios. The internet service is sold as “speeds up to XXX”, but in reality, they control the speed. Somedays it is faster, somedays slower. It rarely as fast as it could be and never as fast as in the old days when we were one of the few on DSL, (earthlink connection on Verizon’s lines) Instead of more is merrier, I think its a case of more is slower….but it is still way better than old dial-up.
Calvin – slippin’ and slidin’, creepin’ and hidin’. His mother’s expression much like my mother’s would have been except that any object in the bathroom that would serve the purpose would have been applied to my backside pronto. All in the name of attitude adjustment…
Well I wondered why there were so many comments today. Less to do with the strip than it had to do with browser and hardware accountability. And what do I use….none of your dang business.
calvin is ONE SICK PUPPY!!!!! thats one of the reasons i love him so. what i want to know is whats up with the strip “fraz”? im 55 years old and got my calvin fix on a daily basis thru the comics page of the daily newspaper. any way, if you love calvin and hobbes as much as i do please state your views on frazz.

I was similarly paid back for jumping on my parents’ bed – it broke, they sorta fixed it, I inherited it, tried to refinish it, and it was not an easy repair. :(

Argh. And next week sometime, I’ll randomly try it, and it’ll be fine.

@hobbesGet a Mac. Save yourself a lot of heartaches, viruses and delays while your anti-virus software is churning.

“How is the water level that high outside the tub?”Cartoon physics. And maybe Calvin turned the spigot back on to refill the tub before Mom got there.
