@RCMinor — Neither do countries who have once had capitalism remember it fondly. Cuba was a corrupt wasteland in the ’50s. It now has the 2nd-highest literacy rate in the world, longevity and infant mortality rates at the level of developed countries, and only 1.5% of their population is in extreme poverty. Now, it also has the 2nd-highest rate of journalist imprisonment in the world, not to mention dilapidated infrastructure and lost of people living in non-extreme poverty — but it’s a lot better off now compared to how it was under capitalism.
@Towerwarlock — Please. Lenin would kick Obama’s ass.
Is Scott Stantis now claiming that Kevin is a Marxist? I thought Scott always implied that Kevin was a Republican, but now it appears Kevin is not only a democrat-socialist, but a Marxist adherent. Or is Scott so politically ignorant that he doesn’t understand that Democrats are socialist and Republicans are capitalist. Please, Scott, learn some basic political science before you do any more snarky strips.
The US has an trade embargo with Cuba, not a blockade. Just because we don’t trade with them, we aren’t preventing anyone else from doing so. Cubans are living in poverty because that’s what communism has done everywhere and every time it’s been tried.
You do know that we’re the only country embargoing Cuba, right? So if Cubans can’t get those things it must be because their communist government doesn’t get those things for them from Canada or Europe.
There are plenty of Canadian tourists in Cuba. The embargo is completely ineffective precisely because the US is the only country enforcing it. Cuba can and does trade with the rest of the world. All that sugar brings in a lot of money (or at least could), and the cheap costs could make it an ideal call center for the Spanish-speaking world. They just need to get rid of the Castro family.

The mafia certainly thrived under Batista, the peons, not so much.

If Kevin wanted a lenin statue he could have come to Seattle, we have one in Ballard he can have.

Kevin is running in both primaries. Remember, he’s extreme left and extreme right. This gives him some credibility with the Occupy Wall Street crowd.

I bet Kevin knows who the president of Ubeka-beka-beka-beka-beka-stan-stan is.
