I’ve always had some doubts about the validity of “Cultural Studies” as an academic discipline, but when I read that the pretty prestigious University of Chicago had a Symposium on Jersey Shore my doubts were confirmed.

If it weren’t for comics and the occasional headline or snippet while changing channels on the TV – (and the trashy mags at the hairdresser) I would have no idea someone would call themselves Snooki.

Johnny Hart used to spend a couple weeks every year at a fishing camp where I worked. Great guy and nice friends he brought with him. I cleaned his room & did his laundry many times. He was always friendly and pleasant.
