Brrrr! Without an atmosphere of air to capture and retain the heat of the sun, the average temperature on earth would be below freezing! Tara Miller of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, won a 2011 national photography competition despite being legally blind! The longest a great white shark has ever lived in captivity is 198 days!

Dang talking about being wild to the bone, only 198 days geesh.

Actually, it would a lot colder than just “below freezing”, but technically, that’s correct. “Below freezing” could be any temperature from 31 F. down to absolute zero (-459.67 F.)
Stephen Gilberg about 13 years ago
That has yet to be determined. More than 30 years for sure, possibly more than 100.

Just give idiot man a little more time and he will bring back the ice age. Start knitting those booties!

It’s actually a bit more than just the atmosphere that keeps earth’s atmosphere regulated so well. The ocean plays a big part as well, by slowly absorbing heat in summer and slowly giving it off in winter. The monsoons (seasonal prevailing winds) are a result of the temperature differential between the sea and the land.

Agree – expect a return of the ice age by those supposedly as brilliant as those now touting global warming. Of course, in those days too one kid was almost kicked out of school for suggesting, due to the matching shapes, that Africa and Europe were once connected to the Americas.
