Oh, I crossed the Sonoran Desert when it was hotter than the hinges of H_ll.Kinda made me wonder how a drop of rain ever fellThere was cholla everywhere I looked, saguaro and priclly pear.I believe if I’d had a mirror, I woulda asked me why I was there. Now they told me there was water out there, but a man oughtaknow the land.Got to where I was thinkin’ they’re gonna find our bones in the sand.Me and my pony were tired and thirsty, the air justa standin’ still. Then off in the distance was a bit of green at the bottom of a rocky hill.I found a tank the weather had made with water in a little pool.Back underneath a rocky outcrop where it was shaded and blessedly cool.I watered my pony and I watered myself and lay down with a weary yawn.Seemed like a good place to spend the night and I could head for Tucson at dawn. The sun was gettin’ low in the west when I rode into Tucson town.Took my pony to the stable and gave her a good rubbin’ down. Then off it was to the barber shop to wash off my sweaty stink,Then down to that saloon on Congress Street for I was surely needin’ a drink.Well, the money ran out like it always does, what with women, gamblin’ and beer.So back I went to the stable and tied on my travelin’ gear. The bartender gave me one last glass with a frothy head of foam,Then there I was on the desert again with a long hot ride back home.Yes, I crossed the Sonoran Desert when it was hotter thanthe hinges of H.ll.Kinda makes you wonder how a drop of rain ever fell. There was cactus everywhere I looked as far as trhe eye could see. That hot old Sonoran Desert just ain’t a fun place to be.>>>>>Shirttail Slim<<<<<

Went to the Look Good, Feel Better class at the hospital yesterday afternoon. It was good to be with other women who have had cancer, kind of like a support group. Learned a bunch of neat make up tips, but all in all, I was allergic to the stuff I used, so now I have all these freebies that I’ll send off to my granddaughters. I’ll stick with my same ole brand that I’ve used for a hundred years, and gives me beautiful skin. :)))

    Morning, Vagabonds.

    Nice one, Slim.

Hang in there, ML. Our prayers are with ya!

Got a heck of a rain yesterday evening. I need to go over to the house and see if any water got in.

    Here’s the link to Today’s Annie .

    Morning Vagabonds.

Slim, another great one. And didn’t Heinlein have some interesting points of view? One of the things I really liked about his Lazarus Long character was his ability to survive just about any situation. His survival skills were a combination of practical knowledge and adaptability. I always wondered if RH had the same set of skills.

Does anyone know the name of the movie – some kind of costumed fantasy – as well as the channel that will be broadcast on Nov 11? I have no TV reception and I wanna ask a friend to tape it for me.

Good Evening Vagabonds..Slim: Your writing brings back fond memories. When I was stationed at Ft. Huachuca I would start every Saturday at the stables and would spend my morning riding through the countryside. Then spend the evening in Tombstone. I would love to go back there some day, but don’t know if I will ever get to..Everyone have a good evening,
