It’s pure hell in Nevada. Getting only slightly better than it was 20 years ago. At least now you can do more online. However the State’s financial straights have caused employee shortages so you know what that means at the DMV. Once in Las Vegas I spent about 4 hours – with an appointment.
Probably an hour, get everything on line, except the photo ID which gets taken every 4 years, and I am due for that this month. Don’t you just love those photos, though?
The DMV is USUALLY a nightmare trip here in NorthCentral PA. I can’t blame the employees, though… it’s the people they have to deal with on a minute-by-minute basis that puts them in such happy moods.
Guess it just depends on the location. There’s one that I used to go to where I would always end up waiting for hours, but there’s another one I started going to more recently where the wait is half an hour at the most usually.
2-3 hours. No Appointment. Not long compared to others, but I got their very early (5-6 am) before it became crowded, but I still had to wait that long.
Longest I have spent was 4 hours in the Rhode Island DMV, Colorado is only about an hour. Scary thing is these are the same people that want to run your healthcare.
Ventura California…waited standing in line for 3 hours, then took a test and waited for an hour and a half after turning it in to go to a desk to be told to come back after lunch, which I knew better than to do, I just waited in the line that would be where I needed to go and then two hours later that line actually started to move and I was only there another hour and a half. From 9 am to 530 pm. I moved back to MN before I had to renew thank God. Takes me about 1/2 an hour here. (Buffalo, MN)

It’s generally very good here. I think the longest I ever spent at the DMV might be an hour.

I’ve never been there longer than an hour. And of late I’ve been getting my plates online. No waiting at all.
