And in case anyone is wondering, Ipanema is in Brazil, south of Rio de Janeiro, and near the famous Copacabana beach.

I didn’t know where it is either.

Sung by Brazil 66’ should of been the clue! Doh!

He must know the girl. It’s the usual reason for knowing where obscure places are.

Tall, and tan, and young and lovely, the girl fom Ipanema goes by…

“…Each time she passes each one she passes goes ‘ahhhhhhh.’”

It’s turning cold here……I wouldn’t mind being that girl from IPANEMA right now strolling the beach in a barely there swimsuit…….but I can dream can’t I?

I didn’t know where it was when the song came out, and didn’t care and still don’t care. Liked the song though.

A few years ago my favourite reality show, “The Amazing Race” had a segment in Rio where teams had to find “The Girl From Ipanema” or rather the woman that inspired the song as a 15 year-old, Helo Pinhiero. Still lovely at 66.

When I was in 8th grade, i was the only one in my history class who knew where Madadascar was. It was ashame no one ever read or looked at a globe. Today it’s even worse with kids and geography. Linus rocks!

I wish they showed the original publishing dates like comics.com did. I’m going to assume this is from ’64 when the song came out in the states.

anyone into samba/bossa nova (brazilain music) from the 60’s would know or if you’re in your 50"s-60’s Cool song- the girl from impanema… this was one of the most beautiful area’s in brazil at the time.. not sure about now..

oh how I watch her so sadly…..How can I tell her I love her? yes I would give my heart gladly..but each day when she passes the sea-she looks straight ahead not at me…

Technically, grammatically, Linus was the only kid who knew where Ipanema is (as opposed to knowing where Ipanema was.) But you go, Linus!
