The Ninth Symphony, a magnificent piece of music. Let’s play it from the beginning and let’s everybody say: Which of these stories will you be talking about tomorrow.
Just got home from work. On the radio they were playing Claudio Abbado conducting the Berlin Philharmonic in their recording of Beethoven’s 9th. Glorious.
I have some of Ludwig’s works on my iPod to which I listened earlier today. Either I’m going deaf like the man, or I don’t even have his Ninth thereon.
The hymn, “Joyful Joyful” was sung by the congregation as our wedding processional. We now sing it every year on the Sunday nearest our anniversary (I pick the hymns each week – so that helps).

Isn’t “Ode to Joy” the finale to Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony?

Beethoven’s birthday means karaoke night at Schroeder’s house…

Looked it up and his christening day was the 17th of December…they’re one day premature. Nonetheless, happy early birthday, Beethoven!

They wouldn’t be the only ones, Schroeder. I know nothing of Beathoven & glad of it.

Schroeder imitates an early version of REALITY TV.

They should just be glad that he isn’t getting set to sing the entire Missa Solumnis. The fourth movement of Beethoven’s 9th isn’t that long.

Isn’t that the words to Tommy; “Tommy can you hear me?” Plays a mean pinball.

I’ll have Beethoven’s 5th of Jack Daniels instead thanks.
Didn’t the old Chet Huntley/Dick Brinkley news use the 9th
as the theme music on NBC back in the 1960’s?.

Perhaps Schroeder’s guests are simply unfamiliar with the German text of "Ode to Joy. “Freude schoener Gotterfunken Tochter aus Elisium…”

It’s also rare to see the back of Schroeder’s head. A classic German name, too.
