@bouncingtiger – FOX News supports saying Merry Christmas and is against PC running amok.
@runar – If you don’t observe Christmas that’s fine. They’re not forcing you to observe Christmas when they say Merry Christmas just wishing that you have a good time. What is wrong with that.
I am not a religious person at all, but when my customers tell me to have a blessed day or God Bless you for your help. I do not get offended I say thank you and move on. It doesn’t kill me or offend me for cripes sake! This world is too sensitive!

I don’t know, but I have not seen any problems saying Merry Christmas anywhere around my state. The problem seems really blown out of perspective by a few people. Say what ever works for you and spread something positive with it. No problem.
I am an atheist who disagrees with every single Christian teaching, but I don’t let that get in the way of enjoying a winter festival of light and good-will. I think of Christ and Christmas exactly like you think of Thor on Thursday. So to all of you, I say, MERRY X-MAS!!
In an effort to not offend anyone, the PC police have offended everyone; never mind violating the right of free speech. expression of faith and anything else you can think of. Foo on them! MERRY CHRISTMAS or what ever floats your boat.
I am 62 years old and we have always heard Happy Holidays- this is not something new. Nobody ever complained about it in 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, 90’s or oo’s. What is the big deal now. There is no war on Christmas. People make up a lot of the stuff they write or they heard from somebody that heard it from somebody. For the person that wrote their school won’t let their teachers say Merry Christmas in school or out of school- please give the name of the school and the administrator that said that. Sorry, I don’t believe it;.
I don’t mind “Happy Holidays” so much—but it bothers me that Christmas is gradually displacing Thanksgiving, and that the celebration is over on (or even before) December 25 rather than just getting started. OTOH, that leaves us who do believe a chance to celebrate the real Christmas season in it’s proper time.
++++
I also found it disturbing in the recent news story of the Rhode Island “holiday tree”—unless they are celebrating Teutonic pagan religion, I don’t recall any other religious traditions that use a decorated evergreen tree. Avoiding calling it a “Christmas tree” is simply absurd.
I wonder if anybody else realizes that it’s the people who strenuously object to saying “happy holidays” who are ruining Christmas by politicizing it so much — and doing it so ignorantly.
Nobody is trying to eliminate Christmas or take Christ out of it. Not MSNBC. Not Barack Obama. Not Wal-Mart. No one! Most claims to the contrary are hoaxes or straw man arguments. I’m as liberal as they come, and an atheist to boot, and I have no problem with others saying Merry Christmas or saying it myself. You wanna celebrate Christmas? Then celebrate it and move on with your life. Don’t stop to lecture people about political correctness when they’re not even doing the thing you’re accusing them of.
I’m a faithful Christian, but I also like to mess with people now and then. Sometimes when someone wishes me a Merry Christmas, I respond with “Happy Holidays” just to see how they react. It’s fun to see their chagrin when I reveal my plot after some of them react negatively. Happily, I’ve noted that most people do NOT go fly off the handle. This “war on Christmas” is not entirely made up, but I think it’s really being fought by a very small and loud minority.
