Caption: "How to make instant pudding" By Nancy. 1. Choose a box of instant pudding from the cupboard. 2. Carefully read all of the instructions. 3. Hand pudding box to your aunt.
Today’s strip reminds me of my daughter when she was 8. I was a single parent so I did most of the cooking.
She came to me and asked if she could make supper. I asked what she would like to fix. She said spaghetti. So I agreed with the idea that I would help.
I told her to start by getting the pot out from under the cupboard. She handed me the pot, I put water in it and set it on the stove.
She started to walk out the door and I asked where she was going? She said to play. I said, “what about the spaghetti?”
She told me that she was going to play until the water was boiling. She wanted me to call her in when the water was ready to add the spaghetti.
A few minutes later as the water was bubbling, I tried to call her in. She said she was having too much fun. She wanted to know if I would go ahead and put the spaghetti in the pot. So I did. And I prepared the sauce and put together the garlic bread.
Finally dinner was ready, I called her and her brother in to wash up for dinner. I also happened to have a date that I had invited over for dinner that evening.
We sat down to eat and my daughter had an ear-to-ear grin. As we started to eat, she said, “Well? How is my spaghetti?”
My date announced to her that it was the BEST spaghetti we ever had. I concurred.
My daughter’s chest swelled up with pride and we ate supper with her knowing she was a good cook!
Aunt Fritzi should buy Nancy an Easy Bake Oven for Christmas and say Santa brought it. I enjoyed mine and my daughter had fun creating her own little cakes with hers.
