Hey folks, update on the new book (“Unamused Birds.”)
I’m nowhere near the number of pre-sales I need to get the book to press through my usual printer. I’d need about 20 more copies sold before I’d have the money to get the presses rolling.
So I’m going to have a slight change of plans.
This Friday I’m going to close the pre-sale item in my store. If I get the 20 additional pre-orders by then I will do a full print run, ship the pre-sold copies when they arrive, and keep the book on sale.
If I don’t, I will go to the same printer I ended up using for “Meet the Royals” and will do a limited run for just the pre-ordered copies. The books will ship when they arrive (which may not be until after the original December 12th release date) and the book will not go on wide sale as I had originally planned. After the new year, if I can scrape the money together, I’ll do a full run so I have copies to take on the convention circuit with me. If not, the pre-order people will have a very scarce book on their hands.
Pab, sorry to hear about the orders. I buy so very few books now that my income is mainly just SSA. I just bought my 2nd paperback of a Garcia Marquez novel to challenge my mind with reading in Spanish and because they paint the scenes very clearly in my mind. I used to have a lot more disposable income before my last layoff and still had some while I got freelance work, but there is little to no construction activity in my area, so no drafting or mechanical design for me. I only spend money when I have it:-(

Amusingly, they just launched Castleville. I’m not playing it, but the overlap in timing is a giggle.

I hear that Vic’s friends won’t play Stratego with her anymore, because she takes the game way too seriously.
