Doonesbury by Garry Trudeau for December 14, 2011
Transcript:
Donald Trump: Lots of people - jealous loser, mostly - are accusing me of using the Trump Debate to promote my latest book, which is flying out of stores, flying! In it, I reveal exclusively to readers that I'm currently worth $7 billion, including my brand value, which I've assessed at $3 billion! Roland: Seriously, Mr. Trump? Your brand value is $3 billion? Trump: Yes. What's yours? Roland: I put it at $750 million. Nowhere near your league, sir!

I think I’ll come back to this strip on Sunday. The Donald is The Boring.
DylanThomas3.14159 about 13 years ago
The Donald and The Roland form a mutual “self abuse” society of two.
DylanThomas3.14159 about 13 years ago
Two megalomaniacopsychotics together in the same strip! Again, the genius of Trudeau shines through.
DylanThomas3.14159 about 13 years ago
Well, on second thought, the fact that The Roland IS humble enough to admit that The Donald’s “self assessed” “brand value” IS four times greater than his own says something for the man in pockets, buttons, straps and buckles. Not much, though, I must admit.

I’d put Roland’s value at $0.75, and I might be generous at that.

$750 million – that must be one buck for each tweet.

Yesterday, DylanThomas3.14159 asked: “Does your comment presuppose, AKHenderson, that you’re a conservative who’s fallen out on The Donald?”.Dude, I was never a fan of his. i was mocking GT’s series a few months back that cast Trump as a rising star in the Tea Party, all because he said one or two things the Tea Party happened to agree with.

Trump’s a hump. The only proper attention paid him is mockery.

Babygirl! As the Fonze would say, “AAAAAy!” You’re siding with narcissistic The Jeff over narcissistic The Donald. Good choice, says I. DT3.1415926535897932383049025216

Yeah, but The Donald’s initials don’t include the endless π . . .

All I’ve got to say about The Donald is…
Potrzebie about 13 years ago
According to wiki he’s filed for BK how many times?

Trump used to be known as “The ego that ate Manhattan.” Now he wants the whole country for dessert. I’m finding it a dull DB week – how about another Duke resurrection? In today’s world he should have more work than he can handle.

Trudeau has the Donald pegged for the blowhard that he is. Yea Gods, what a waste of space this bambastic boob is.

Let’s see if I understand this properly: If I were to pay Donald Trump three billion dollars I could then erase his name from everything associated with it and require him to permanently remove himself from public spectacle? Naww . . . as tempting as it might be, The Donald’s brand value isn’t that much.`Also, Trump is worth $7 billion? Who says? I strongly suspect that if you took an assessment of Trump’s alleged wealth, a good percentage of the readers of “Doonesbury” may well have a greater net worth (assets minus liabilities) than Donald Trump. The real financial difference between Donald Trump and a good percentage of the readers of “Doonesbury” is Trump has a much better cash flow.

I guess that the Donald and some un-named but now-skeweredmedia types…are on equal, more or less, value-schemes. Self-imposed, and worth nothing to anybody else.
Except as objects of risibility. The hand that grasps the microphone never approaches truth…

Coming from any other character, I would derive Roland’s response to Trump’s inquiry about Roland’s “brand value” as an example of sarcasm. However, from Roland I’m inclined to believe he takes his response as simply a statement of fact.

On May 1 Trump’s clown program was interrupted for the announcement that Osama bin Laden had been killed by US Navy Seals. One man is Commander-in-Chief, the other is a freak show on NBC.

This DT arc shows Trudeau at his worst. He tried to time these strips but events overtook Doonesbury and made DT’s debate as irrelevant as Red Rascal’s War.I’m sure I’m not the only reader disappointed to watch Doonesbury lose its anchor in reality. Unless you’re a chameleon like Jeff and his admirers, it’s hard to live on this airy diet of political fiction and Pi-in-the-sky bloviatings.

Dang Susan, you’re right. You don’t think (D)onald (T)rump is using North Korean techniques to subliminaly brainwash us with 15,000 comments since July 2011, in order to increase “brand worth” do you?
Spaghettus1 about 13 years ago
Evidence? Even a single example of this “jumping”?
He’s been president for 3 years now. Both his first and last name are relatively unique. We all recognize him by either. The only reason for listing both names is so you can include the “H”. “He must be anti-American with a name like ‘Hussein’, right?”

I LOVE Roland.

So, you admire Trump because his fake campaign was based on a fake issue? The fact that states like Arizona and Louisiana were attempting to pass laws requiring Presidential candidates to submit long form birth certificates- laws motivated solely by hatred for Obama- was the main reason for the President requesting the Hawaiian officials to make the original certificate available. Those states stopped attempting to pass those laws once the long form certificate was presented. Apparently, Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich can show with notes from their mothers. The fact that you believe that Trump deserves credit for the resolution to the certificate witch hunt makes me seriously doubt the accuracy of your user ID.

If you’re talking birther, I’m outta here. I like logical arguments about our country and our government and how they can be improved, not fringe-element mud-slinging.
