Nah, she’d have to buy him all new clothes and then have to iron them.

If it needs to be ironed, I won’t buy it. Wash and wear is my motto.

well, Elly, easy: he enjoys it, from now on it’s his job. Not just his clothes, either…

@ Mr. Nabuquduriuzhur:I have to disagree. I work in retail and the items that are “wrinkle free” tend NOT to last as long…the chemicals applied to the fabrics tend to make the fibers brittle and hence, they fray in about 6 mos of wear. Give me good old-fashioned cotton any day—even if I do have to iron it.

Some people are allergic to the formaldehyde releasers that are in permanent press clothing, and develop rashes when they wear that type of material.

I ironed my fatigues and BDUs for 23 years. I can still get the best creases in anything I iron, but SWMBO prefers wash and wear, so I’ve gone with the flow…

Since he likes it so much, she should give him the job permanently.

OK, I’ll laugh about it, then I’ll discuss the strip as much as I want.

Yep, his job now!!I think I’ve said my piece about ironing before. I iron something 6 days a week, and I make a point to buy permanent press clothes and the “no-iron” pants. I also get the clothes fresh from the dryer, even leaving some in the dryer tumbling with no heat while I hang the rest. I also wear nice t-shirts most of the time and try to keep them wrinkle free, but they still need touching up, so I don’t look like I slept in them. Until deerskin or shining armor comes back into vogue, some sort of ironing will always be needed.

I don’t see him giving her a hard time all the time for the hard work that he is doing for her and the kids. I bet she would not like it if he came from work and gave her a hard time about that, no?

Ironing is a task we share in our home. We also avoid violence. Females should not be exempt from violence any more than the males. Violence is violence. Period. Exclamation point. Dittoed.

Lynn’s Notes:Here is another word for word exchange between my husband and me. The punch line was exactly as written. I didn’t toss a measuring cup – but I sure wanted to. This resulted in his taking over the pressing of his own shirts and clinic gowns – until we hired a housekeeper who came once a week and actually enjoyed ironing!

Just an FYI for those who don’t know. These comics are ALL reruns. MS Johnston stopped doing the strip many yrs ago. Do not remember when, but all three kids were grown up when she ended the strip. It still has relevance today though.

We know these are repeats. My X expected me to even iron his boxers. I now only iron while I’m sewing or my slacks and good blouses. I wear a lot of knits and such. I admit to ironing costumes and I do not use a dryer normally ever (love the smell of drying outdoors). As he enjoyed that, I would just have him take over that chore. I was glad to take over cooking from my mother; you take pride in things that you do well.

If she ended the strip after 29 years and started over at the beginning, then how can today’s strip be only 25 years old? She’s been reprinting every strip with a few added in the beginning of the “reruns”. That would make today’s strip 29 years or older, not newer.
