The Mom’s not as much of a bitter, hateful shrew in this version, so that already makes this pretty good. The dad gets a bigger role, and it seems he hasn’t changed much.
The syndicate told you it was good, but they already had a successful old people/family strip they can farm out. If you “revised” your work to separate yourself from the other old people strips and make it more recent, they’d give it a second look and maybe they’d accept you.
This strip is looking good so far. I’m in a similar condition, and I keep trying to tell people I don’t WANT to reach 90. I watched my parents’ health decline, and I’d rather go suddenly from heart disease (which I have) instead of the slow, agonizing other natural causes.

Funny thing is, his last line is from a rock song, I’m sure of it. Well, not the “sitting on my porch” part.

There’s a country song that says "if loving you is wrong, I don’t want to be right’. Maybe that’s what you’re thinking of.

The Prequels…first George Lucas, now Jack Pullan. :-)Looking forward to the read!
