Alice: At school today, Miss Bliss blew up some balloons and we learned about stactic elastricity. Mom: You did? Alice: We rubbed the balloons and stuck them all over Dill. He looked like a bunch of grapes. If they'd been helium balloons, Dill would be halfway to the moon by now! Mom: Say "stactic elastricity" again.

Dill was a star, and Mom is tickled by “elastricity”.

“Elastricity” is the property exhibited by stretch pants. When you realize how much they’ve stretched, they shock you.

Poor Dill, always the object of derision. That boy could develop issues…. But Alice, Mom, and the mirth of elastricity are a tingly delight!

I’m glad Mom pointed out how she said it, or I never would have noticed!

You already learned a bit about it the other day, Alice, when you blew up Dad’s socks.

It’s very entertaining when little kids try to pronounce new words. A little neighbor boy pronounced octopus as oggeepus and after several prompts to repeat the pronunciation He got angry and a loud annoyed burst said OGGEEPUS!

Alas, as cute as mispronunciations are, parents must try to correct them.

I know these are re-runs, but I haven’t seen them in color before! I really like the second panel in particular.

@Greg/Josh, I agree on pricipal but that was so cute that I agree with her mom; it is NOT like a frequent grammatical error.
