A great strip for 2012 and all the fear we live with.

Looks like it’s too early for Old Navy Quartermain.

What’s interesting is how innocent a gag this must have seemed at the time- because we didn’t live in a world where it hit so close to reality.

Wow…no concern whatsoever that it would destroy the train…I guess high explosives were hard to find.

That shows how things have changed since the year this strip came out—although we did hace the Sacco and Vanzetti incident in the 1920s

Look up at the top title banner above the strip, notice how later artists simplified the drawing of Jeff— in the old days, his mustache, sideburns and eyebrows were much fuller—I liked him better that way—how about you fans?

I once asked dad what the difference was between 40% and 60% dynamite? His reply was that when you lit the fuse on 40% you ran 40 rods away, 60 rods for 60%

There is not that much space between seats nowadays. Bus, airplane, auto – your knees are under your chin.

…Scott , as Quartermain points out , there were violent incidents in the M&J era , things credited to " anarchists " and Communists (whether they were or not , some , no doubt , were I guess) , violent Ku Klux Klan things in the 20s and 30s , lynchings…

…I still wish they’d let us have the option of seeing the original B&W , by the way – And , why is Fisher credited again ? Did that guy with the French?? name , who died last year’s , estate (he was a stepson of Fisher IIRC) give up the rights ?? If so , to whom ??
