I think they only get ticeted if there is an actual accident, but then I’m also from Chicago area (and in the winter they would not investigate a car crash when I called – because there was no injury.)
Nah—I don’t think I’ve ever actually HEARD of it happening. I’m aware of the concept, but I don’t really see how it could be enforced in this day and age.
Also, welcome back, Tony! I know I felt kinda silly asking questions! lol
My husband sees a lot of people near his work get ticketed for jaywalking. Their parking lot is across the street from the office, with the light a couple hundred feet away, so lots of people just go straight across. Every once in a while, there’s a police officer ticketing people for it.
they were handing out tickets for jaywalking in downtown Dallas not long ago. people too damn lazy to walk to the corner to cross at the light. they prefer to swarm across the street anywhere they please and snarl up traffic.

It’s a fact. Everyone who jogs eventually dies. So I quit while I was ahead.

I’ve never been caught jaywalking. But if you’re doing it on a busy downtown street, you are one of many.
