On the other hand, I just watched the five-episode last series of Torchwood. Good riddance.

BTW, when I was a kid, scifi was a minor and generally disdained corner of the world of literature. Now thanks to movies and TV, creations such as Star Trek, Star Wars, Doctor Who, and 2001: A Space Odyssey are now more a part of our cultural heritage than Beowulf or the original Odyssey.

As a Who fan since the 70s I still can’t quite believe how often it gets referenced in US comic strips these days… not that I’m complaining, of course!

Made my day!!! My favorite show, too! One technical detail comment…This is a mirror image of the Tardis. The little white sign should be on the left door panel, and the Doctor usually comes out the right door.

That’s right Vern, keep your mouth shut and save the universe. Good turtle. Dr Who always knows what he’s talking about.

In 1963 “Dr Who” was fiction and comedy, and our politics was reality.

OTH once established that the only people who can talk to animals are very young, very old, or crazy. I’d say one or both of the latter two for the Doctor. Except that he’s not human, so…

Its all about imagining what the world could be in the future, in Verne’s place its making sure that it occurs by keeping his mouth work… That is unless The Doctor was making a crank house call:)

Great one,Guys. Of course TheDOCTOR can speak to Vern. The TARDIS has Telepathic circuitry that can read minds and translate those words into English. Which explains why Autons, Daleks, Ice Warriors speak like Brits.
