My gosh, if Ma tracks snow into the house, Joy might have to bend over and do a bit of wiping up. Don’t worry about Ma slipping and falling and possibly suing you, Joy.
Aloha Crustwood….. Sunny day here…. not at all like the view thru the Penny’s window…. @margueritem you are right… Joy only worried about the mess not the mom………….I would rather have Folgers than Starbucks any day….! ! !.The “Find It” is the “Keys to Friends”…let me know if you find any…?
…….hard to believe at the moment, still a coldish 2 in the morning (almost) with Thursdays chilly rain still dripping.
I think the “good” stuff is what they usually have on the couch, when it’s just the two of them, and maybe Verl if she’s been on her best behavior.
The old pillows and the Starbuck’s bag are pulled out for Ma…. who of course, being old, has no appreciation for the finer things…Of course, that bag is ancient anyway, having been refilled with canned coffee for visitors since 1995…. they don’t pay that kind of money for coffee. They just want Ma to think she was served the expensive stuff.(And I’d rather drink Folgers than Starbucks too. I don’t like weak coffee, but I can’t drink it too dark roast any more.) BTW, when they have a lot of guests….that’s when the really cheap off-brand coffee from Big Lots is poured into the Folgers can…. and there’s plastic dinnerware, and no sofa pillows at all.Hope Joy doesn’t forget to hide her “Good Cup.”“Mi casa is Not Su Casa”…. hmmmm…at the county fair last summer I liked some pretty, oval wall plaques from Mexico, painted with flowers, that read “Mi casa es MI casa..”Marg — is Leaky really OK?
I love beautiful machinery and tools.Funny, cos I’ve never done anything with that, career-wise, and I’m not very mechanical….
But I love steam trains and brass fixtures, big cast iron machinery, the building full of giant, ancient, polished flywheels that run the San Francisco cable cars…
I loved to go to my safe deposit box when you had to walk into the old vault, through ornately machined steel plate doors and brass hinges and locks…
and I never miss the steampunk festival and “handcar regatta” that happens here every September — a race for amazing “human powered” vehicles that look like something out of a Jules Verne novel.
Just realized that in all that verbiage, I forgot to say to acesover — Great post last night!
And Grog, don’t forget, Joy is sublimely oblivious to anybody’s reaction to anything she says or does. Insults sail over her head, except for the ones she only imagines, and she truly believes people think she’s kind and compassionate.
Everyone’s pretty much on top today. Never mind about Ma’s safety—you’ll just inherit sooner—just avoid all work! And the struggles to “make” a Sara Lee pie. I can’t even think about it.
@Susan, I read last night’s posts before coming here, and I DID thank acesover (I was totally believing that the blind man had a nervous breakdown until I saw that it was from the Penny’s pinching ways ;-P
Good morning to all you late night or very early risers! At first, I thought how nice to clear the snowy walks for Ma, before I realized sh only cared for the mess. Like Joy, I just put one coffee (but from a bag into the can). I prefer the canned Bustelo in my expresso pot, but have not found it yet in local stores, so I ground some “expressso beans” to the fine grind that the machine says is expresso. I figure it will stay fresher in the can (and it’s also easier to measure without spilling). I don’t often drink coffee, but when the high temp for the day is in the 60s, I like some (or hot chocolate).
@x-Tech, Most remakes are of lesser quality than the original (just as movies are never as good as the book)- unless the book was no good, in which case why bother.
Thanks all (just ventured back after my supper) I never read or saw the ones mentioned by Habogee and Marge (naturally I have heard of them-just did not interest me) and Dave, I had looked over entire casts before commenting (None fit the word ending as I see it). Guapo- I have had some theatrical friends but I only made scenery or costumes (way too shy in person to perform)

I had to wire Leaky some money to pay for his room, but he should be back tomorrow.

What was the occasion that made Joy bring out the good pillows and afghan for the sofa?

Not to mention Ma might get blood on everything from the injuries she suffered falling on the icy steps.

Does she really think she can fool ma? I’m sure the apple didn’t fall too far from the cart.

So yeah, she thinks Ma will buy it.

Good morning Crustwood!
No ‘Find It’ today.
Maybe Ma won’t be tracking in snow, but we always have salt coming into our house after I maintain the sidewalk/driveway.

Is Ma DRIVING herself in a blizzard?

If you shovel enough snow ON to the walk, I guaranteee she won’t track any into the house.

I checked cast for both the original film and the 2008 and there was no fit for . .addle.

I can’t believe Burl had nothing to say to the request he shovel snow.

Haha. Look at Burl peeping over the chair arm. He’s like “shovel WHAAT?”Dispatch Timmy. Or tell Jer his speedo is buried under there.

My guess is the name that is starring in the 39 Steps is Tom Waddle, wide receiver for the Chicago Bears

Maybe our “find it” task today is to find out who’s starring in “The 39 Steps.” Could it be a misspelled vidazzle?f

Saucy — you may be right! LOLAfter all, Joy knows who taught her these tricks.
Leaving town again, all — I THINK I’ll have computer access at her house, but if you don’t see me for a day or even two….
