Liquor’s quicker (said Dorothy Parker). Is it Lucas that Mona thinks might be “interested,” and if he is, then she is, too? If so, I am of the opinion that she was lucky to fail to find such a card.
Poor Mona, scratch the surface and the shy awkward adolescent is still right there underneath. If only anger and alcohol were not her favored method of dealing with it.
Mona and Lucas are never on the same page. In spite of her tough icy persona Mona suddenly reverts to being the shy girl seen in the flashbacks whenever personal matters come along. Then she tries to plot some subterfuge to overcome it (today’s thing with the Valentin’s Day card for instance) and gets drunk and/or out of control if she can’t make it work. Lucas is almost totally passive, life just happens to him. Before he realizes what is going on there will be a new unwelcome development. For some reason his ball busting ex will reenter his life or something of a similar vein.

Good choice, Mona.

It’s for the snakes.
I applaud Mona’s choice. Nothing says I may like you in a totally noncommittal way than a bottle of Jack.

At last – a Valentine’s Day comic for people who are thoroughly sick and tired of and bored to tears with everything having to do with the day.
