Larry and Patty are quite the couple. They did manage to produce Junior (who clearly takes after his mother’s side of the family). But Larry probably gets rather frequent whuppings at home, not to mention his spectacular failures outside….

Wow… thanks Mechanic, and BigBadPete — I’m very flattered.

I didn’t realise it had been a couple of weeks since I posted on Pearls….. and I had no idea anybody would notice.

Nothing was wrong…. but thanks for asking.

I stay up waaaaay too late, and read about 30 – 35 strips every night.

Pearls is close to my favorite, but I usually comment first on a couple of others with smaller audiences.

Sometimes by the time I get here, a lot of wise-ass remarks have already been made, and I don’t feel like I have much to add.

And it’s true, I often avoid political themes, and I stayed away from the religious one last week…but Patty’s line was just too great a temptation. :cD

Anyway, I guess now I’ll have to try harder!

“Barack” has various meanings…

The Biblical one comes from a Hebrew word for “lightning bolt”; but the same sound is a different word, (and a common name) meaning “Blessing” in various African languages.

In any case, President Obama, at that time still the Democratic candidate, wasn’t actually defining it, he was making a joke.

I forgot that many people might have forgotten this MOMENT in the 2008 Presidential debates!
