I’m with rf_eq, I watched the Three Stooges and all the Bugs Bunny/Daffy Duck cartoons and never became a violent criminal. Same for Road Runner and Willie Coyote.
Well, they got to him before he drew the party about AFTER the barbecue…you know, the various ever-present intoxicants and all women were wild…after all, it WAS ’way BC…before YOUR time. But some of us remember…heh heh.
On PC. “Having your thoughts governed for correct content by a bunch of university prigs and wannabe dictators at home is anti-freedom”. Compliments to Edie Ernst, USO singer, allied spy, 9CWL Brooke McEldowny
Violence has morphed from caricature in the ‘40s, ’50s, and even ’60s into closeups of slit throats, etc. As mentioned above, I never became an eye-poker either, nor did I ever push a boulder off a cliff onto anyone beep beeping or otherwise. I don’t think, however, that censorship is the answer. The popularity reflects audience demand, and that is the blood ugly fact of it. Some people shouldn’t procreate.
When a person thinks about it, the rating PG should apply to EVERYthing: “Parental Guidance” is advised. Like many above, I was raised on, and still love Bugs Bunny, Road Runner, and…anyone remember Beany and Cecil with Clara the clinging vine? Woo hoo! Big stuff, back then! There is a difference between GRAPHIC, realistic violence as created today and the suggested, silly “violence” of earlier media.
Oh please spare me the PC crap. We don’t need the government to tell us what is proper to say or write. Images like this, whether real or imagined, are part of growing up.

Get used to it. 2012 is coming, and I have no hope it will improve things.
