I got to the point with our landline I didn’t even look a the number. If it was important they’d leave a message.
It was astonishing how many people are too good to leave a message, but not too good to demand my attention immediately without any prior warning or explanation.
Yea having worked as a telemarketer, the business doesn’’t care about angry customers. You never even see the people at the top. Its an extremely stressful job and believe me just hanging up and not giving us money is good enough punishment. When you think you’ve been “witty” and “owned” a telemarketer, in reality you have done it to someone that doesn’t care about the product, is doing this because its the only job they could get to pay bills and is having a lot harder time calling angry people all day and night then you are picking up one phone call.

You mean, you hate it when they interrupt your surfing and texting and tweeting during the family dinner.

We take care of this simply in our house. No answering the phone during mealtime. Period. (Oh, and no personal devices at the table, either.)

I worked (briefly) as a telemarketer/surveyor. Trust me they prefer that to a verbal berating about something they don’t even care about.

Yep. Caller ID is awesome. And if they don’t leave a message, it wasn’t important.
