Bond... James Bond?! British author Ian Fleming was an avid birdwatcher and his fictional British superspy, James Bond, was named after an American ornithologist! The thing? Paleontologists have discovered more than 1000 fossils of Siphiusauctum Gregarium- a bulbous, 8 inch long animal that lived 500 million years ago, but no one has any idea what other animals it is related to!

Ian Fleming did intelligence work for MI-6 during World War II. He was part of the Intrepid Ring. One of his closest friends during that time was a man also destined to become a famous author, Roald Dahl.
Dahl later penned the screenplay for the movie adaptation of, "You Only Live Twice’.
