verne: That license to kill is actually real? RJ: It's not like I'd ever use it. Verne: How can you be sure? RJ: I'm sure. RJ: I've had many many chances. verne: Can you please pass the febreeze?
RJ probably doesn’t use it because to kill something requires a little something called effort, something RJ won’t do unless it involves twinkies and finding a way to do something with less effort.
Verne looks like he suffers from the Dunlap Syndrome, his belly ‘Dunlap’ over his tightie whities. Winters do that to the waistline, so springtime reveals all that good eating.
Though real turtles and tortoises can’t remove their shells, watch enough cartoons and you’d be surprised how easily they take off their shells. Cartoon logic 101.

I thought turtles hatched from eggs. Why does Verne sport a navel?
Another question of equal significance might be directed to the fact that he is wearing skivvies.
OK, then … they’re conversing in English, aren’t they?
Nevermind.

I guess the whole point of this particular strip is that Verne is vulnerable to a critter that is not at all picky about what it eats.
Then again … I think RJ prefers twinkies and he is probably well-stocked due to the shortage scare of a week or two ago.
OK … I’ll go to bed now.
