My “Rover”, a yellow lab named Cu (Gaelic for “dog”), saw a strange dog cross the yard one summer’s day. Cost me $15.00 to have the screen repaired. Went right through it! Just wanted to sniff noses. sheeeesh
These are all current — look at the copyright date in the first panel — but the strip is set about 40 years ago. We baby boomers read it and soak in a warm, relaxing bath of nostalgia. :)
Oh how I love this strip and the memories of growing up in the late 50’s and early 60’s and our Collie and Basset Hound. I would move back in a second if I could.<3 you Red and <3 <3 you Rover!
This is my lab in a nutshell… Loving, friendly, gets along with dogs at the dog park pretty well… but when a cat or squirrel passes her line of sight, she turns into a snarling beast. It’s all show for her.

Good thing that glass was there or Rover would have come right out of the trenches!

Squirrels and errant pieces of paper bring out the beast in our otherwise sweet, loving Rover!

It’s really hard to see through all those nose smears on the window.
