Wow…. being, myself, what they call in Illinois an “Election Judge” and here in California, a Precinct Inspector, I’m so taken aback I’m almost speechless.
(Of course, my fellow Crustwoodians know that in my case “speechless” is just a figure of…. well, ok, speech.)Either title is just a high-falutin’ way to say “polling place worker”…. and I spend about 14 to 16 hours on election day just making sure none of this stuff happens!’A camera over the booth, a copy machine…. a blatant bribe from a candidate, even though he doesn’t SAY you have to vote for him to get a doughnut… A posted list of recommendations…only in Crustwood. I hope!And are the booths at Lane Bryant so big they stretched the curtains wider and shorter?Hope that’s not where you try on bathing suits.

You can listen to the radio shows there! I haven’t heard a lot of them… but I do remember her from TV and movies.
Meanwhile, about Mr. Romney’s dog… sorry, but now, or in the 80’s when that happened, my pets have always been family.They don’t ride in carriers on rooftops or even tied in pick-up beds.They ride inside where I can see them…. where they can’t fly off, and they have protection in an accident.I know not everybody feels the same…but that story still makes me shudder.

Gone also are the days of canvassing the cemeteries for new voters…sigh..@Dave Hussell: My residual check for March bounced! Did yours clear?
Now, now. The the man a break. He’s trying to vote, but every time he inserts his ballot and pulls the lever, there’s this flushing sound, and his ballot disappears. He’s beginning to suspect it might not be a voting booth. Sadly, however, it is.
Personal note. To remember Mahalia Jackson, Good news! Chariots a-coming!Any day without cancer is a good day. At least for the nonce, I am cancer-free. Prostate cancer is gone and hasn’t recurred in four years. Only one melanoma in five years. Blessedly, multiple myeloma is still in remission.Thank you to all still working and paying Medicare taxes. I appreciate it.
Good to hear you’re better, Mikie (did not realise about it before) and this morning we are seeing that football shortens life expectancies and more (I got my boys into gymnastics and wrestling) and some grandsons are doing that and my girls are in cheers. I have to change out my photo of the baby hawks; all three are growing beautifully and now stand in a line politely to be fed.
Election day in Crustwood. Figures that they’d have to use the LaneBryant Store (are they actually that short, or is Julie exaggerating? I’ve never gone in one, but I’d expect to see lots of folks like our favorite Crustwoodians.)
Thanks to all. I have been blessed with the best of care here at the M D Anderson Cancer Center. Sometimes it is easy to create a huge pity party but on two occasions it has been ungently knocked out of me. The first was when I got onto an elevator and came face to face with a young mom holding a toddler with an IV in her arm. Oops, there goes the party! The second was sitting in a waiting area with a 12 year old boy with a huge smile and the very devil in his eyes. But missing a leg.There are so many people here with so much courage. And so many docs, nurses and others who really care and maintain a cheerful, positive attitude.
