Click-to-enlarge image available from here. Different coloration enlargement available from here, along with a short discussion of the painting. Here’s a second painting, and a third painting by this artist of Saint Jerome (wanted to use something other than his Wikipedia webpage or Catholic bio that I’ve used before) in basically the same scene (there’s a hat on the wall in the other two).Wikipedia has all three, plus a couple more (one similar, the other not so much), and a couple detail images here. This painting is discussed in more detail here along with a (perhaps better quality) different coloration click-to-enlarge image.Oops, at least that’s what I thought from the image. But the location is where the second painting is on loan to, and the hat, mentioned in the painting description, is missing. Apart from the hat, it’ll probably pass for a discussion of this painting as well — I’m not going to find a better one.Current-location’s webpage. Different coloration detail image (actually from third painting, but the same pages as this painting). Other works in the Wikipedia collection. So far, only work by this artist to appear in Mr. Melcher’s blog.
Have no idea about “Mallomar” but references from mabrndt good as always. I only visited 2 (so busy lately on the Cornell hawk site) but enjoyed the ones where I went and would have gone to that new ref on Frida if I had time (and there was one on Kincaid- can’t believe anyone takes his work seriously!!) anyway, thanks again Mabrndt. I’ll be here more once the cute little hawks have fledged but the cameras are so good in HD and I’m enjoying the comment board as Beatrice_aviary.

Looks like skull candy. The artist really seems to like painting Jerome. Looking up his paintings, I see several different versions of this painting.

Nice man cave. Is there another skull in your hoodie or is it just glad to see me?

Looks more like Jerome just realized those mushrooms in yesterday’s gruel might have seen better days.

@mabrandtRegarding your comment yesterday about nobody commenting about ‘filet mignon’, must have been only a bunch of vegans on line.
