Ernesto: Ah, Peter! I hear you're about to launch a line of comic books. You are, of course, familiar with my own line of high-quality graphic novels? Petey: Hi, um, Ernesto. No? Ernesto: I'm astonished! Ernesto Lacuna Picto-Fictions are the apex of modern funny books! Powerful, gritty and pulse-pounding adventures! Drawn from life, specifically mine! Here - "Ernesto Saves the Earth," I repel the Martian hordes by weaponizing cafeteria food! Can your books compete with that? Petey: Um...

No.

Ernesto is a young Newt Gingrich. He’s just as ego-maniacal.

Cafeteria food NEEDS to be weaponized? I thought it was already there, no additions needed.

My local comic shop doesn’t seem to have this in stock. Any ideas where I can pick up a copy?

I, too, want to see with my own eyes Ernesto Lacuna Picto-Fictions! Will this give Petey feelings of inadequacy?

Not Petey’s perhaps, but Andre’s probably could – even if they are short stories.

Now I know he is imaginary.

Ernesto’s stories sound like they might have (shudder) action in them, something Petey tries to avoid.

when the comics code authority started censoring comic books in 1955, EC started some black and white 25 cent magazines they called picto-fiction! they also turned Mad from a dime comic book to quarter mag. it sold, picto-fiction didn’t.

Has anyone ever noticed that Ernesto has a picture of himself on his inner sweater?

Some companies are weaponizing milk by adding carbonizing it. Just shake, aim , …

I always suspected that “jello with the food in it” was a weapon of mass obstruction…

I wonder if Ernesto Lacuna was named after Cuban musician Ernesto Lecuona.
stanwal over 12 years ago
Lacuna means a portion of the text is missing if my memory is correct. Or the gap caused by the missing text. A great name for an imaginary friend. I suppose he is originally from Lacuna Beach, California.

Hey, I liked rice with gravy. Ours was bright yellow, but I thought it actually tasted pretty good.
