Hmm, to think I stayed in Germany for two months in1988. I communicated via paper and pen. Put the damp sheet (high humidity) in an envelope, hoped the flap would stay glued shut, and sent it via airmail. I survived with no phone, and walked, used a bicycle and hopped a few DB trains to get around.

I don’t ever plan to get a cell phone. I’m home most of the time with internet and land line.
