The Taliban would claim – quite justifiably – that dropping Hedley on them constitutes a war crime.

Romney has re-hired all of the Bush neo-cons. McCain is pushing for MORE commitment in Afghanistan. Drums beating for attack on Iran.Global powers are beginning to jockey to fill vacuum once occupied by U.S. superpower, on possibility that U.S. will continue to pour strategic power and flexibility into Mid East bottomless pit.

“We’re winning, right?” If you actually have to ask that question about a war, the answer is undoubtedly “No.”

@tacopielvr1. It’s “typos” not “typo’s”. There’s no grocer’s apostrophe needed here.2. Misspelling “grammar” when criticizing other peoples’ grammar is so deliciously ironic. Thanks!

He’s gonna twist ANYTHING she says. So the ONLY way this can come out well is if he’s thrown out the plane without a ‘chute. And she’s the one to get it done, too, so I can only hope.

“As for the first panel, Rosey? An officer should address subordinate enlisted people by their rank and last name, not by some goofy nickname.”

    1. They’re overseas, as part of a combat operation; they’re not at home, “keeping ready.” Things get more casual, or at least informal.2. If this enlisted person and this officer have been working closely for an extended period of time, things get more casual, or at least informal.3. “Rosey” (or maybe “Rose,” “Rosa,” “Rosalinda,” etc.) may be her given name. “Goofy” is an opinion, and “nickname” assumes facts not in evidence.4. “Radar, where are those forms I need to sign?!?”

Personally I think Bush GAVE us ‘Arab Spring’…I mean, Bush got us stuck there…to ‘drain the swamp’ where the ERRORISTS came from(yeah, I meant to spell it that way)

And all those medieval sandbox countries have stirred a LOT.

There were 22 of them with rotting dynastic governments…

However…nothing’s changed much about genital mutilation of women in Egypt, for instance.

    Animals. Perverted animals.

I have a feeling these two may be the story arc of the week, so don’t be surprised if she doesn’t defenestrate him. They will need to interact so he can spin whatever she says.

You’re right – it’s very sad. And here’s something I’ll bet you didn’t know: It’sextremely painful. I suffer from this afflictionand it’s true. I notice typos and incorrectgrammar all the time and it’s really hard to overlook them. It takes a lot of effort to ignore them. Pointing them out is also the best way I know of to make enemies.

And if I didn’t have spell-checker, I would not dare to write anything, because I make moretypos than anyone else.

    Incidentally, it’s an indicator – not a indicator.(Sorry. couldn’t help it!)

@Davox I too am a nitpicker about “grammer” and usage, and typos leap off the page into my flinching sensibilities. I also loved your term “grocer’s apostrophe”; however, it is my sad duty to inform you that you, too have erred with " peoples’ "as a plural possessive.

“Every time I see fatigues in “Doonesbury,” I skip it. I just can’t stand that we’re still over there, even after we got Bin Laden. It’s time to bring them all home.”

And how does your running away from critical commentary/satire get them home any quicker?

Right, it’s time to go. We’ve got all our new weapons and our new battlefield medicine procedures and equipment sufficiently tested, and the cost of human life was low enough that the populace did not revolt. Vietnam same-o.

Appears that “Rosey” (1st frame) is addressing a Sargent or Non-commissioned Officer (NCO) (2nd frame) “Sir”. Just wouldn’t happen. Gary, stop mixing how Officers are commonly addressed, i.e. “Sir”, with that of an E5-E7, i.e. “Sargent”. Keep it “Stract” Mr. Trudeau, keep on a making commentary…and that’s an old DAV NCO’s order.
