Found it! That “attack” on the blog was driving me crazy. I knew I’d seen it before. It is from the absolute trippiest version of Alice in Wonderland I have ever seen. They used stop animation on a doll when Alice is little.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VLcjPSk60dMThis particular moment is at 43:50
That’s always bothered me too. Maybe you can take extra pride/love from those people who have been moved to post here for the first (or some very low number of previous posts) time — they just didn’t want to submit. (though making the same typo about 5 times in a row in one word above before getting it right has me more than ready)
Teresa, I’m so sorry I missed out on the Golden Okra Award. Maybe the Green Banana Award would be more appropriate anyway. ’Scuse me now while I press my ENLIGHTEN button:
Apparently the giant mosquito is from a 1991 movie called either “Phantom of the Cinema” or “Popcorn!” According to the IMDB entry
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0102690/
the movie is about some college students putting on a horrorthon of Fifties B-grade movies. None of the movies in their horrorthon are actual movies; they’re made up for PotC. One of the fakes is “Mosquito!” The B&W scene of the giant mosquito was created for PotC, and looks almost as good as some of the creatures Paul Blaisdell created.
The scene reminded me of the stories about Alaskan mosquitos during WW II, where the bugs were so large they would ask for clearance to land at air fields.
kissing fish are actually fighting when they do this they push until one gives in, like some couples
although i did once have a gay bettaa moron friend decided he wanted to see the bettas fight, as they’re siamese fighting fish and all, so before i knew it, he dumped two of them together
one came out fighting and the other one treated him like a female fish, wrapping himself around as if it was a female he was meeting
thought it was odd tried it with another
romeo went right after the next confused male – definitely not fighting
if only we had had a female at the time – he might have been a bi-betta

Yes, it used to be a common occurence in mine, too. Not these days, though. 16 years of no regrets – all because I stopped trying too hard.

Re: Herzog’s note. People have to read the whole thing. It’s hilarious! Probably with a lot of (dust) grains of truth, but still hilarious.

I wish goComics would change the title of that green button. I hate pressing a button that says, “SUBMIT”. Sounds so 1984.
I would much prefer the word “ENLIGHTEN”.

The spaghetti barcode looks a bit like Kliban’s style – I like the image.

The important question is does she like to roll naked in the dandelions while wrapped in your arms?

re blog & heart-shaped eggs: Teresa, looks like something a Japanese uber mom would do—making cute obento (box lunches) for their kids/husband.

Great background int today’s strip, Teresa! Such subtlety lends support to the overall depressing theme.

There were times…when I just thought, ‘well, so what?’ and went back and pestered her again. Worked sometimes.
Otherwise? lots and lots of fish left…
