I’m with Andy on the third panel. (Just who are these immodest clothes designers anyways?!)

I love the look on Andy’s face in the third panel. I can’t tell whether it’s shock, horror, or a combination of the two!

Andy was just looking at the price tag, not the top.

So why did Andy let her get that outfit?

I may be dense but I don’t get it — Andi likes two outfits, but the one she hates is the one Paige comes home with — so, Andi let her? And Peter somehow deduces that their mom accompanied Paige? I would have guessed the opposite — “Wow, Paige, you must’ve gone shopping WITHOUT mom, otherwise you never could have bought that.”

Ugh! If I ever have a daughter, I would NEVER let her wear something like that; ‘course I’ve seen worse in real life that have left me with enough mental scars to last me a life time.

Ted, nope, you do actually get it. that is the whole point, teens don’t accept parental advice when they NEED acceptance from peers. Granted if Mom had any stones daughter would not have been allowed to get te outfit. The kids are in charge.

It’s Mom’s look that did it! That’s what Paige was looking for.

To Ted from NY: Mom is helpful to Paige because Andy said no to the skimpy outfit (as Paige expected). However, given a choice of three, mom agreed to buy the other two. It’s likely she would not have opted to buy the first two had not the awful third choice been given. It’s a con game or some tricky manipulation, as I see it.

The same thing happens now at election time. Ingenious really.

If Paige wears that more than a few times, they’ll really need to stock up on Kleenex if she’s going to keep that top filled out.

So Paige picks the ugliest outfit. Since when does everyone have to dress as if they were extras in a Mad Max movie?

The comic format makes it impossible to tell how long Peter’s been staring at his sister’s pants….

I took as Paige got something so bad that Mom was speechless and offered no response, so Paige got what she wanted. Third panel may have left Mom with a heart attack.

My son-in-law would not allow navel showing when they were in Jr. High. But at some point, they become more independent, maybe if they earn there own money. And the style has become so common (two meanings?) it no longer shocks.

Nab, that is too funny! I remember loving turquoise and pink when I was a kid, and thinking they went together fantastically. Apparently I blocked that out of my memory until you just brought it up again – you are right, those two colors do clash terribly!

Although I remember turquoise and pink from around late 80’s or early 90’s, and I think this strip must be from a later year….

I suspect that the skimpiest was also the most expensive, there being an inverse relationship with the amount of fabric versus cost.

I think Andi was in such a state of shock that Paige was able to have her way. But once she recovered she should have taken it back to the store!
